Autumn Stephens is a creative nonfiction writer, editor, and teacher based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She’s the author of the Wild Women book series and editor of two anthologies of women’s first-person essays—The Secret Lives of Lawfully Wedded Wives and Roar Softly and Carry a Great Lipstick. Her essays, reporting, and book reviews have appeared in The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the 2019 “best of” Modern Love anthology. The founder of an ongoing writing workshop for cancer survivors, she is currently working on a book about revolutionary writing prompts. Autumn publishes an annual quotation calendar titled Wild Words from Wild Women, and agrees with Lily Tomlin that “things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse.”
